My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet 4-year-old Macy. Right now, she’s a little overwhelmed by the shelter sights and sounds, but her previous history tells us she’s a total star in a home! Her foster says she’ll tell you all about her day, and her "inner circle" gets all the purrs and head-bonks. Macy is a "slow-burn" kind of girl—she won't be your best friend in five minutes, but she’ll be your best friend for life if you give her a chance.

This animal is currently in foster care to give her a break from the shelter. If you're interested in meeting this cat in their foster home, reach out to adopt@morrisanimalrefuge.org

Additional adoption info

Morris Animal Refuge has a holistic open adoptions policy that seeks to find the best home for every animal and the best animal for every home. No appointment is required to adopt with us; walk-ins are welcome. We will process your information at the time of adoption and in most cases your animal can go home with you on the same day. Adoptions are same-day, first-come-first-served. We cannot hold animals for pick-up at a later date.

When you arrive at the refuge, please bring a valid photo ID and cash or card to pay the adoption fee.

It is encouraged, but not required, that you bring any children, current dogs, or other members of your household to meet the dog you are interested in adopting.

If you are interested in adopting a cat, please do not bring any other pets with you. Because cats require slow introductions to new animals the shelter setting is not a good place for them to meet new potential furry family members.

All animals adopted from Morris Animal Refuge are:
– Spayed/Neutered
– Up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations
– Treated for fleas and most intestinal parasites
– Microchipped
– Cared for by our loving staff until they find their forever homes!

More about this shelter

The Morris Animal Refuge is a 501(c)(3) shelter dedicated to helping the homeless, abandoned and unwanted pets of the Philadelphia region. Founded in 1874 by Elizabeth Morris, we were the first organization dedicated to sheltering and rehoming pets, and continue that legacy today by providing adoptions, a low-cost spay/neuter program, fostering, humane education and more.
