Dog Test: (Okay with Dogs) Mattie has not met dogs to the shelter staff`s knowledge, but is young enough to possibly adapt to being around them.
Cat Test: (Okay with Cats) Mattie has been around other cats and seems to prefer being an `Only Kitty`.
Kid Test: (No Kids) Mattie would do best in a home with grown up humans.
Litter Box Trained: (Uses Litterbox) Mattie is litter box trained.
Energy Level: (Low/Medium) Mattie is a quiet girl, extremely timid. Her start in life was being left in a basement in a trap when home owners sold and moved out of their house. She is learning about the world around her and is still a bit fearful. Shelter staff are working with her to show her that life isn`t always scary and that sometimes there is a rainbow after the storm.

Our shelter is open 7 days a week. (Excluding holidays).
Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
Saturday- Sunday 10am-2pm
We ask that you come visit any time between open and no later than 30 minutes prior to closing. This ensures that staff will have enough time to assist you in meeting one of our great furry friends!

More about this shelter
We are a Municipal Animal Shelter for the City of Lee's Summit. We house animals brought in by Lee's Summit Animal Control Officers and Blue Springs Animal Control Officers.
Animals are also brought to us by owners that can no longer keep the animal or by strays that were impounded for running loose.
When an animal comes in as a stray, it is held for 5 days to give the owner a chance to claim it. If the owner does not claim it, on the 6th day it is put up for adoption or foster. During this 5 day holding period, if a potential adopter would like to adopt the animal, they are welcome to sign up on the adoption list. The names on the adoption list are contacted on the 6th day if no owner has made claim.
If there are no names on the adoption list, then the animal will become first come, first served when available for adoption.
