Dog's Name: Sheila (SHE1025ALAFD)
Estimated Breed: Bernese Mountain Dog
Approximate Age: 5 years
Approximate Weight: 61 lbs
Currently Living at: Boarding
Adoption Fee: $500
DOG'S DESCRIPTION: Meet Sheila — the Beautiful, Bashful Bernese!
At 61 pounds of pure fluff and quiet grace, Sheila is a gorgeous Bernese Mountain Dog with the kind of smile that could melt glaciers — but don’t expect her to walk a red carpet just yet. Sheila is a little shy with people and still learning that humans can be pretty great. She spent her early life as a mama dog, raising pups instead of chasing tennis balls. Now it’s her turn to be loved, spoiled, and told she’s the prettiest girl in the world — which, by the way, she absolutely is.
Sheila gets along wonderfully with other dogs and finds comfort in canine company (she is in foster with two other dogs and would love a confident dog buddy to show her the ropes). She is still learning that people can be good, so is slow to warm up and prefers to have her own space to decompress. She’s quiet, gentle, and just wants a calm, patient home where she can blossom at her own pace. If you’ve got a soft voice, a big heart, and maybe a cozy couch with a dog-shaped dent waiting to be filled — Sheila is ready to start her happily-ever-after. Apply today and meet this beauty in person!
While Sheila has made a lot of progress on leash with her foster mom, she currently still needs a fenced in area to go potty.
Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.
Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.
Foster Program: Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home. For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.org
