My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Curio is a tiny guy with a big heart and a whole lot of curiosity to match his name. This sweet little dude is about 1 year old and weighs just 15 pounds, but he has already been through more than any young pup should. Just days before Christmas, Curio was being given away on social media with the threat that he would be taken to the pound if no one stepped up. Thankfully, one of our supporters saw the post at just the right time and brought him safely to our rescue before he could fall into the wrong hands.

Curio spent much of his early life confined to a crate, which is no place for a playful, inquisitive puppy. When he arrived, he was underweight and understandably unsure of the world around him. Since then, he’s been gaining both weight and confidence every single day!

True to his name, Curio is fascinated by everything. New sounds, new smells, new experiences. Sometimes that curiosity comes with a surprisingly big bark for such a small guy, but it’s not aggression at all. He’s just learning and finding his voice as he figures out this big world. With time, consistency, and positive guidance, we know this will continue to improve.

Curio absolutely loves other dogs and seems to take a lot of comfort from their presence. Having a confident canine buddy in his future home would likely help him continue to blossom. He would thrive with an active owner who enjoys walks, playtime, and training, and who can give him the attention and structure he missed out on early in life.

At his core, Curio is a sweet, silly, affectionate pup who just wants to feel safe, included, and loved. He has so much potential and so much love to give, and he’s ready to start the next chapter of his life with someone who sees just how special he is. Interested in giving him the happy ending he deserves? Please inquire today!

More about this rescue

Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced, and abused pugs. Our goal is to find every homeless pug a forever home; if we cannot do that, we pledge to provide a comfortable and loving place for sick or unwanted pugs to live out their lives. Our Board of five and numerous volunteers are passionate about Pug Rescue and live by our motto of “One Pug at a Time”. We feel that through our efforts we can change many of these forgotten Pug’s lives. In order to find our Pugs a home as soon as possible, we hold at least three adoption fairs a month and also organize a number of fundraising events, including the annual Pugtacular festival and Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s in West Hollywood. These events and on-line fundraising have provided the money to help pay for vet treatments, medicine and loving care at our Pug Station. We rely on the generosity of our supporters through donations and participation in our fundraising activities. If you would like to make a donation, find out about the next event, become a volunteer, foster, or adopt your own rescue pug, you are in the right place! You can also follow us on Facebook and twitter, there is always something going on and new pugs needing your help.
