My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Lulu! I’m a 6-year-old Hound blend beauty weighing 33 pounds.  I’m both curious and shy, playful and protective, but above all resilient.  I love my humans, especially females, and I don’t hesitate to show affection with kisses and cuddles.  I'll need a patient and dog-savvy person who is home more often than not to help me adjust to family life in a safe environment.

Favorite Things: Lulu loves squeaky toys, zoomies with squeaky toys, and snuggling on the sofa or outdoors on the porch.  She is abundantly affectionate and a faithful companion who loves to nuzzle and settle next to her favorite human.

Training & Manners: Lulu is house-trained when let out frequently.  She has good basic manners when she is in a calm environment.  Loud noises made by things like trucks and appliances may startle her and she’ll likely respond by barking. She tends to be protective of her special human and may also bark to alert herself and others to possible danger.  She’s still working on leash walking skills – she loves to explore and could stay out on walks forever!  She tolerates a car ride and sleeps in her own bed at night, right beside her favorite human’s bed.

Health & Care: Lulu is spayed, heartworm negative, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. She’ll need monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any pup.  Grooming is easy - regular baths, ear checks, and nail trims will help her look and feel her best.

Other Animals: Lulu bonds deeply with her favorite person so she'll need to be the only pet in the home.

Children: Lulu will do best with older (teens+) kids only.

Ideal Home: Because she can be vocal, especially when she is alone or feels anxious, Lulu needs a single-family home.   She can be left alone in the home for a couple of hours but may have a few things to say until her person returns.

Overall: If you are looking for a faithful and affectionate companion and have time and patience to help her adjust to family life, Lulu might be the one for you.  If you think she might be, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org to fill out an adoption application. If it seems like it could be a good match, her foster family will reach out with more information. Her adoption donation is $350.

We are a foster-based rescue organization and do not have a facility. We have all events posted on our website each month.

More about this rescue

Poodle and Pooch Rescue is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that saves dogs that truly need help. We rescue the "leftovers" from animal control, the dogs nobody wants because they're older or suffer from neglect, abuse or have a medical need. Their "last" day becomes the first day of their new life. We provide the veterinary care they need, a foster family they love and when they're ready, we adopt them to a family who cherishes them. We do not have a physical shelter because every dog lives with one of our foster families. We are all volunteers so your tax-deductible donation goes directly to help the dogs. We have saved over 5,500 dogs since 2008.
