Seltzer is a gentle, loving hound mix whose sweet personality is just beginning to shine. Despite a rough start to life, he remains an affectionate, friendly boy with a loyal hound heart. He enjoys going for walks, shaking his stuffed toys, and happily chewing on his Benebone. His favorite things in the world are snuggling up with his people, soaking up head and belly rubs, and, of course, mealtime. He gets along beautifully with his foster family’s four dogs and, as he’s gained confidence, has begun initiating and joining in play more often. Seltzer picked up household routines in just a few days and quickly learned exactly which door to run to when he needs to go outside to do his business. He truly aims to please and will thrive with calm, consistent, one-on-one training in a low-distraction environment. Seltzer can be a bit sensitive to loud noises, sudden movements, and very busy or chaotic settings, so he’ll do best in a peaceful home where life moves at a gentler pace. Seltzer would likely be happiest in a quiet, settled home with a mature family who enjoys daily walks, has a fenced yard, and includes at least one other dog for companionship and play. This bubbly boy is ready to fizz his way right into a loving forever family!
Weekend Host Feedback: "This is a once in a lifetime kind of dog. He is the definition of a velcro dog and wants to be snuggling with you at all times! Seltzer is the best snuggler! He is so affectionate and gentle with people. We also have cats and he truly couldn’t care less about cats walking, running, or jumping around him. He has a great level of energy and could walk for miles if you let him! I was so impressed by his leash skills and his manners when passing other dogs. He has some confidence to build but quickly warms up to a space after a night or two. By Sunday, Seltzer was totally out of his shell and simply could not stop wagging his tail and prancing around. He seems like he can adjust quickly to new environments. He slept through the night in his crate without any protest at all. He’s definitely a couch potato but really enjoys his outside time! A little work on potty training is all that's needed. I can confidently say that Seltzer will be the perfect companion for his people. I would encourage anyone to come and meet him. We absolutely adored our time with him."

More about this rescue
Located in central North Carolina and officially established in 2004, Saving Grace has placed over 15,000 dogs into homes since its inception. These dogs were from rural animal control facilities with little resources and who would otherwise not had the opportunity to receive necessary veterinary care and a chance at adoption. While we have grown significantly over the years and have been successful growing our numbers we still see many great dogs miss the opportunity of adoption.
We have a large variety of dogs varying in breed, size, shape, age and needs and would love to work with you to find you a great dog companion while providing a dog in need with a loving home. Our dogs are chosen based on temperament and socialization. We get some of the most charming, unique mix breeds as well as some striking purebreds. Our dogs come from rural, underserved areas and while they may have little experience as an indoor family member, they have the temperament and personality that is sure to bring much love and appreciation to their new home. Most have started their crate training while in our program. Veterinary care including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test, vaccinations, monthly preventatives are provided prior to each adoption. If you would like more information about adopting one of our dogs, please email savinggrace@savinggracenc.org
