Fran was found before the holidays at the Costco gas station, surviving in the frigid cold for a few days before an employee lured him inside with food. We suspect he was dropped off or abandoned. In his TC Paw foster home, Fran is an "absolute love bug," says his foster family. "A small boy with a big heart." He loves pets, attention, giving nose kisses, and sleeping in the crook of his foster's neck. He has gorgeous yellow eyes and jet black fur. Fran likes his laser toy, his heated blanket, staring out of windows, and napping with his humans. While he's still pretty young, he's a mellow dude in terms of energy level. He's good about using the litter box and scratching post. Fran's favorite time, besides when you give him head kisses, is mealtime. You'll know when he's hungry. Fran can be vocal around food. Meal time is Yay! Yay! Yay! He even gets in the fridge to help. He likes to see and smell cooking utensils and be involved the process. He won't like it if you're cooking something and not sharing yummy treats. At the heart of it, Fran just wants to be included. He needs patience, kindness and reassurance, and he will reward you with so much love.
Fran is still working on anxiety. He gets scared if you walk around a corner without first saying hello. When Fran gets anxious, he finds it reassuring to be held and rocked for a little bit, with kisses! Offer him a hand to sniff first before picking him up. He's unsure about the family's male cat and can be territorial, meowing and chasing. Though the foster uses a baby gate to slowly introduce the two guys, they are not currently cohabitating, and Fran is most comfortable when the other cat isn't around. Fran may be better as the only cat in a quiet home. Fran's new family should expect some transition time during which he may be vocal, but he will settle down. A room or quiet place he can go to be calm is helpful. His foster family welcomes home visits to meet this little dude they adore. They know he'll be a special lifelong friend for someone.
