My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How to sum up Bernie... in a few words, a total Ladies Man!

As a strapping older gentleman ‍with lots of white fur and light green eyes, Bernie is the talk of the town! And quite the talker he is! Bernie loves to chirp, meow, and purr all the time; and with his brown and black tabby coat, he draws eyes from all across the room. At almost 9 years old, Bernie is a bit rough around the edges (his face and ears have some scars) but we think it simply adds to his intrugue ! Bernie had a hard life on the streets, battling against other males for food and territory that unfortunately left a lasting impression (actually several) that means he tends to not like males, cat's and humans alike. Bernie would prefer a home with a lovely female owner and either solo or with a female kitty friend (like his foster buddy Anastasia). He can get along with males but sometimes he is rather sassy about it

He also has FIV, meaning he needs a little extra attention to his health and diet. Speaking of diet, boy does Bernie LOVE TO EAT ! Bernie has stress induced Pica, a disorder that causes him to chew and eat things like electrical cords and hands when he is stressed out. And being an older man, he has some joint pain (easily managed with a heated bed), so he kindly asks that all pets stick to his head and butt and a super sunny spot  will make him the happiest boy!

When Bernie isn't getting all the snuggles, he is following his foster parent around for attention. He loves acting as a foot warmer and playing with anything that moves (no string toys though, since he likes to eat them) before curling up on top of his human for a nap . He already has a favorite spot on the couch where he happily dozes the day away. And while Bernie may need a little extra care than most, this true gentleman loves making you feel like the most special person in the world. From head butts to purring to sweet little kisses, Bernie is truely a lover, not a fighter.

If you are interested in adopting this ladies man, please fill out our adoption form and get ready to have this gentleman of all gentleman treat you like the belle of the ball.

Additional adoption info

Thank you for your interest in Forever Fortunate Felines.  We are very happy to have the opportunity to match you with your purr-fect cat-panion!

Once you complete the online application using the below link, you will be able to discuss and ask questions directly to the foster parent.  We believe this is a big advantage to you as our organization is completely foster based, we really understand our cats personalities at a deep level.  This helps to ensure a great match with you and your family.

In order to get the process going, would you kindly fill out our detailed online application located here:
http://www.foreverfortunatefelines.org/adopt

Completing our online application does not commit you to adopt from our rescue.  Rather it helps us to understand your requirements and match you with the best possible cat or kitten.

Once you complete the application and it is approved, we can set up a meet and greet and if all works out, you may bring the kittens or cats home the same day.  Please make sure to bring an adequately sized pet carrier with you to your meet and greet.  We recommend a pet carrier which opens from the top as this is the easiest way to place a cat inside a carrier.  If you do decide to adopt, we do expect you to take home your cat the same day as there are so many cats and kittens which need to be rescued from high kill shelters, we almost always rescue a new cat or kitten the very next day.  If it is not possible for you to take your cat or kitten home the same day, we do charge a boarding fee of $10 per day for supplies and to encourage you to take your newly adopted cat home.  We will board for a maximum of 3 days if needed to allow you time to get needed supplies.

Our adoption fees are listed at the link below. This fee includes full vetting, flea treatment, de-worming, spay surgery, FeLV and FIV test, microchip insertion, and vaccinations up to date for the kittens or cats age.  We are able to PayPal or most major credit cards for the adoption fee.

We have streamlined our adoption process to make it easy!  Everything from the application, to payment, to the contract is online.  Additionally, all of the cats records will be placed in your free Petlovers account at petstablished.com to keep organized.
