My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Katie was part of a litter of 9 puppies found alone in a rural area with their eyes barely opened. Their mom, Nora, was emaciated and also turned out to be heartworm positive. Nora has been a great Mom to the babies and now that they are weaned she can start her heartworm treatment. Mom will be available for adoption at a later date. Katie is good with other dogs but we do not know what she thinks about cats. Katie's foster Mom says this about her:
"Katie is a little princess at heart, and she knows it. She has a sweet, gentle charm that draws people in without her even trying. At just 13 pounds, she’s small but full of personality, with the kind of presence that makes you stop and smile. Those beautiful brown puppy eyes? Absolutely impossible to ignore.

Katie loves being close to her people and taking in the world around her, especially when she gets a good view of everything, which is sometimes the higher vantage point from your arms. She’s curious, observant, and always soaking up what’s going on. When she does decide she wants a snuggle, she melts into you, just enjoying the love. If you put her down before she's ready? She'll try to jump right back into your arms. Katie is only a little princess, and expects to be treated like one too.

Katie is not only a sweetheart, she's also the classic, playful puppy. Her zoomies consist of bouncing around, chasing whatever her favorite toy is at the moment (it changes frequently). She has been known to abandon a toy mid zoomie and move on to the next, leaving the forgotten one on the floor. This makes a fun game for her, as she scatters her toys across the room, then chases them one after another, ultimately giving herself an endless source of entertainment.

After Katie plays? She naps. Hard. She'll plop herself down on whatever blanket is closest, but her favorite napping spot is a lap. She snuggles in tight, and rests her head on you, making your heart melt without knowing it. In her crate? Not a problem, she'll nap there too. She's great in her crate, only whining occasionally when her favorite person (you) leaves the room. After that, she's a complete angel, just napping hard, like any puppy should.

Other dogs? Katie loves them. Other people? She loves them too. She assumes, rightfully, that everyone is her best friend. It's hard not to love her, and the good news, she'll most definitely love you back.

Katie is an honestly sweet girl. She's about 3 months old and 13 pounds of instant dopamine, who's looking for loving arms to pick her up before she gets to big to be held. So, what do you think? Will your arms be the ones to hug Katie forever? "

Nora's puppies: 4 boys (Ethan, Nate, Riley & Tyson) and 5 girls (Anna, Cassidy, Daisy, Katie & Nova)

***You must provide a vet reference for a current or past pet you have/had.***

We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821).

Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes.

If you are interested in adopting, we encourage you to please submit an application on our website today so that we can try and process and pre-approve any potential adopters prior to our next adoption event.

PLEASE USE THIS LINK TO SUBMIT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION. WE ONLY ACCEPT ADOPTION APPLICATIONS THROUGH OUR WEBSITE. ANY OTHERS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED.
Application link here: http://www.oscaranimalrescue.org/oscar-1-application.html

Katie's adoption fee is $500. For puppies that have not been able to be neutered/spayed yet (due to being too young or small) we charge $500 with the condition that when they are fixed $50 is refunded. This covers all their age-appropriate shots, microchipping and vetting.

**If you are coming to an adoption event to see a certain dog/cat, please email ahead of time to make sure that dog/cat will be there that day. Please email 1-2 days before the event, as some animals are placed during the week and our list is constantly changing.

Additional adoption info

Adoption Process:
1.Fill out an application
2.Meet & Greet
3.Adoption contract & adoption fee

For an application go to: www.OscarAnimalRescue.org

The adoption process is to first fill out an application. You can go to www.OscarAnimalRescue.org to fill out the application. Once we call your references and if its a good fit for all, we schedule a meet and greet.

Our dogs/cats are not first come/first serve. We place our dogs/cats with the home that is the best fit for them. Not all animals are good in all homes, whether it’s their personalities, nature, or breed. We base our decision on what’s best for the dog/cat and the family. Thanks for understanding!

Please remember everyone who resides in the home must know about the adoption, and its not a surprise to any member of the family. We need everyone to be on board about adopting. Thank you for understanding.

Go meet their pets

PLEASE NOTE:

Our shelter is not open to the public and is by appointment only. That's because at OSCAR, one of our highest priorities is the health and well-being of the animals in our care. Unlike city shelters or pounds, whose residents are in place for a short time, as a no-kill shelter, our pets are often with us for weeks, months or even years. The shelter is the only safe place and home they know. When strangers, even well-meaning ones looking to adopt, walk through the shelter, it stresses our animals. We make appointments for potential adopters that submitted applications that have been approved through our process to meet our dogs either in our BarkYard or one of our meeting rooms. We’ll spend as much time as you need and introduce you to as many animals as you’d like to meet in order to make the best match and help you find the perfect new family member!

We hold pet adoption events as much as possible for anyone interested in our animals. It is a great chance for you to come down and meet a bunch of dogs/cats before deciding who is a good fit for you. If you are coming to an adoption event to see a certain dog/cat, please email ahead of time to make sure that dog/cat will be there that day. Please email 1-2 days before the event, as some animals are placed during the week and our list is constantly changing. Individual meet and greets with specific animals are by appointment only.

An approved application must be on file prior to scheduling of a meet and greet.
