Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Cooper is a 6-year-old male Beagle mix with a heart as big as his soulful eyes. He came to us after the passing of his owner, and understandably, he was quite confused and upset at first. After spending the last several years in a loving home, shelter life has been an adjustment—but Cooper is slowly settling in, and we’d love nothing more than to see him back where he truly belongs: in a home.
This handsome tricolor boy is a classic Beagle in both looks and personality. He’s currently a bit overweight, but we’re helping him work toward a healthier figure. He’s also a little lumpy thanks to some benign fatty masses, which we think only add to his unique charm.
Cooper absolutely adores people and is a total glutton for both food and affection. He greets his favorite humans with the happiest little trots, enthusiastic tail wags, and even full-on butt wiggles. He’s looking for a calm, relaxed environment where he can enjoy his upcoming golden years in comfort and peace—preferably with a cozy couch and a loving human by his side.
He does well with other dogs and is mostly indifferent to them after a polite sniff inspection. Cooper is also good with cats and kids, making him a great fit for a variety of households. Like any true Beagle, he can be a bit stubborn at times—but that just comes with the territory.
Cooper is potty-trained and crate-trained, and would thrive in a home looking to welcome a chill, almost-senior companion who’s happiest lounging, snacking, and soaking up all the love life has to offer.
If you’re searching for a laid-back best friend to share quiet moments and comfy naps with, Cooper might just be the boy for you.

More about this shelter
We are a non-profit organization out of Monticello, IA specializing in the care for dogs and cats that need us. Our care does not stay local, as we take transports from all over the United States, and adopt all over as well!
Our mission's primary focus is to help reduce the homeless pet population by finding homes for spayed/neutered pets, and helping educate WHY this process is so important, and the proper way to care for pets!
