My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to our newest intake, Elle. ✨ Elle was found as a stray wearing a red sweater and brought to Miami-Dade Animal Services. Sadly, weeks passed and no one ever came looking for her.

She is now safe with South Florida Beagle Rescue, where she’s finally getting the care she deserves. We are currently working to determine the cause of her significant hair loss. Skin scrapes were performed twice and came back negative, so we suspect long-term, untreated allergies may be the underlying issue.

Elle is also currently in heat, and once that passes, she will be spayed. In the meantime, we are accepting applications for her future home.

Elle is a young beagle with lots of energy and potential. She knows how to sit but will need continued training, as she’s still a bit of a jumper and pulls on the leash. With patience, consistency, and love, she will make a wonderful companion. 🐾❤️

Additional adoption info

Beagles make wonderful pets. They are friendly, medium sized, highly social animals. They are considered one of the most family-friendly breeds. Beagles are intelligent but, as a result of being bred for the long chase, are single-minded and determined, which can make them hard to train. They can be difficult to recall once they have picked up a scent, and are easily distracted by smells around them.

Beagles love to play and do require more exercise than some other breeds and in most cases are considered moderate to highly active between puppyhood to about 3 years old. After they turn 3, beagles tend to "mature" and become couch potatoes! Exercise is “key” to having a happy and healthy dog. Keep in mind as beagles get older they tend to gain weight.
