Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cupcake is a 4-year-old orange sweetheart who found herself needing a new home when her owner moved away to go back to school. Life threw her a curveball, and she’s been doing her best to roll with it.

She gets along well with other cats and even a dog, which tells you a lot about her easygoing nature. That said, with all the recent changes, Cupcake can be a little stressed at first—totally understandable. Give her a bit of time, a calm environment, and some patience, and she’ll settle in and show you what a loving, steady companion she truly is.

Cupcake is past the kitten chaos stage and solidly in her “chill, comforting presence” era. She’s perfect for someone who understands that good things sometimes take a minute—and are absolutely worth the wait.

Their adoption process

1.
Meet the Pet

We have cats available at PetSmart Rockwall, Rowlett and Wylie (Texas) as well as in foster homes.

2.
Sign Adoption Contract

You can take home a pet the same day you meet them and decide to adopt.

3.
Pay Fee

Our adoption fees vary based on age, and range from $100-$150. We sometimes have grant funding available to lower fees.

Additional adoption info

All animals in the care of FRAs have their annual vaccinations, sterilization, FeLV/FIV test for cats, and a microchip. They have also received dewormer and flea preventative. While an adoption contract is required once you select a pet, there is no need to be pre-approved to adopt. You can meet and adopt a pet at the same time

More about this rescue

Friends of Rescue Animals (FRAs) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. FRAs was founded in 2004 by 4 volunteers who wanted to support the Rowlett Animal Shelter. Our organization has grown to over 300 volunteers, and with this growth, we now support four municipal shelters and operate our own cat rescue program.

Our mission is to provide resources, programs and education to promote adoption and care of homeless pets in our community. FRAs’ vision is a world where every companion animal has a safe and loving forever home. We are a 100% all volunteer run organization, and our ability to help homeless animals depends on donations from the community and grant funding.

Our organizational programs include operating the volunteer program for both shelters, providing funding for heartworm treatments and emergency medical care, accepting cats from the shelter and citizens into our foster-based cat rescue, supporting TNR/SNR efforts for community cats and most recently funding dog transport initiatives. Our volunteers spend thousands of hours socializing and marketing the animals for adoption, which increases the number of animals with a positive outcome. FRAs has helped countless pets avoid euthanasia, find their forever homes and live longer, healthier lives.
