Here's what the humans have to say about me:
🐾 Meet Indie!
Indie is an absolute showstopper with her striking, beautiful eyes that seem to look right into your soul. One glance at her, and you’ll understand why she leaves such a lasting impression. But Indie isn’t just a pretty face — she has a wonderful personality to match.
She’s attentive, curious, and enjoys being engaged with the people around her. Indie has a thoughtful way about her, often taking a moment to observe before leaning in for affection or attention. She enjoys companionship and thrives when she feels connected and included.
Indie would love a home where she can be admired for both her beauty and her heart — one that offers consistency, interaction, and plenty of time together. She has the kind of presence that makes everyday moments feel special.
If you’re looking for a dog who turns heads with her looks and wins hearts with her personality, Indie may be the perfect fit.

More about this shelter
We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
