Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jack is a sweet, laid-back male hound estimated to be around 4–5 years old. He has a calm, easygoing personality and is the kind of guy who’s happiest relaxing by your side or enjoying a good nap throughout the day. Jack has been good with other dogs and has shown a gentle, friendly nature with everyone he meets.

Jack does have a positive exposure to Lyme disease, but he is not showing any symptoms and has already received doxycycline as a precaution. He’s feeling great and ready to find a loving home of his own.

If you’re looking for a mellow companion who will happily join you for quiet moments and peaceful days, Jack could be the perfect fit. He has plenty of love to give and would make a wonderful addition to the right family.

We have a medical fund at our shelter vet, Claws and Paws. You can donate to this fund by calling (804) 598-8030 and asking to donate to the animal control fund. Thank you!

Their adoption process

1.
Meet the Pet

If you see a pet you are interested in, please come by the shelter Monday- Friday from 9am-4pm to meet the pet you are interested in.

2.
Submit Application

If you have another dog they will need to meet the dog you are interested in. You will need to fill out an adoption application next.

3.
Approve Application

We will now review your application and either approve it or not. If approved, you will be contacted about picking up your new animal.

4.
Take the Pet Home

You will be able to take your new pet home now! We do have an adoption fee of $25 exact cash or check.

Additional adoption info

We do not do same day adoptions.

Go meet their pets

We are open for meet and greets Monday - Friday from 9am until 4pm. Our address is 4000 Old Plantation Rd Powhatan VA 23139.

We do the monthly adoption events with Sanctuary Rescue at their Hull Street Rd location known as Liz's Place. 16916 Hull Street Road, Moseley, Va 23120. This event is held the first Saturday of every month between 10 am and 1 pm.
