My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pierogi!

Pierogi is a 3-year-old male cat with a friendly, affectionate nature and a love for human companionship. He enjoys attention and is often happiest when he’s spending time with his people, whether that means soaking up pets, lounging nearby, or keeping you company throughout the day. Pierogi has a gentle demeanor and would make a wonderful addition to a home looking for a loving feline friend.

While Pierogi is social with people, we are unsure how he would do living with other cats. For this reason, we strongly recommend slow and gradual introductions to any feline friends in the future, allowing everyone the time and space needed to adjust comfortably.

Pierogi is ready to settle into a forever home where he can feel safe, loved, and appreciated. With patience and proper introductions, he has the potential to thrive in a variety of home settings. If you’re searching for a sweet, affectionate companion, stop in today to meet Pierogi — he’d love to say hello!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
