My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VT

Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Yes, dog-savvy cats
Good with kids: Unknown, likely yes
Crate trained: Yes
House trained: Yes

Burt is a delightful and friendly boy. He is independent, yet happy to be at your side or in your lap, whichever the moment calls for. He has a medium energy level and loves running and playing, but will always be ready for a nap with his human.

Burt loves other dogs and is immediately ready for playtime. He has been in the same home as a cat and either ignored it or attempted to play, so a dog savvy cat would be no issue for him. He has not spent time with young kids, but given his friendly nature, he would most likely get along with them well. He is still learning his manners when he gets excited, so dog savvy kids would be best.

Burt is eager to please and will do anything for a treat. He walks well on a leash and knows the basic commands of "sit", "kennel", "come" and "off". He rides well in the car in a crate, and crates calmly at home. He is also house trained.

This wonderful boy will make his new family so happy! Are you ready to make him a part of your crew?

More about this rescue

Our mission at Last Hope K9 Rescue is to save every possible dog we can from being euthanized within high-volume kill shelters throughout the U.S.

As the literal “last hope” of nearly every animal we serve, we work tirelessly to place each one within a stable, loving environment that can act as either their forever home, or the gateway to their forever home. We also strive to ensure that all of our adoptions and foster placements are the optimal fit for everyone involved, including our dogs. This leads to our second goal: enriching human lives through canine companionship. To us, you can’t have one without the other.

Lastly, we promote animal welfare by lobbying important initiatives that both protect and give voice to the voiceless. By fostering an environment of collaboration with other organizations that share our goals, and working together instead of in competition, we find that we accomplish more.
