Diamond is a 7–8-year-old mixed breed who came to us from truly heartbreaking circumstances. Left behind by her owner and forced to survive outdoors, her body shows all the hardships she's been through.
One of her ears is crumpled from long-term, untreated ear infections, and her teeth are worn down to tiny nubbins (a dental is already being scheduled). When Diamond first entered our program, she looked tired and defeated, and we weren’t sure what to expect from a dog who had endured so much.
What we found instead was a dog who simply wanted to belong again.
Diamond has transitioned beautifully to indoor life and has proven herself to be fully house trained, with no accidents since arriving in foster care. Despite likely having little experience on a leash, she walks quite nicely and continues to improve. She enjoys car rides, playing with toys, and spending time with her people—quiet companionship seems to be her favorite thing.
She is learning to use a crate but prefers having more freedom in the home, where she settles well. Diamond is dog friendly and, while curious about the resident cat in her foster home, has been gentle and respectful.
Now that the stress and uncertainty of outdoor survival are behind her, Diamond is beginning to show us who she truly is: a calm, content dog who finds comfort in routine, safety, and human connection.
We’re so excited to see her continue to blossom in a home that will give her the stability and care she has always deserved.
