My name is Smokey (Courtesy Post)!

Smokey is a sweet, gentle soul who needs a very patient and loving home. He is shy around new people and new environments, and change can be overwhelming for him. When we brought him to an adoption event, the unfamiliar setting was too frightening for him, and it became clear that a busy or fast-paced environment isn’t what Smokey needs.

That said, once Smokey feels safe, he does learn to trust. It took time for him to warm up to us, but now he allows pets regularly and shows his quieter, affectionate side. His trust is something you earn—and when you do, it’s incredibly special.

Smokey would do best in a calm, understanding home with someone who is willing to move at his pace and let him come out of his shell on his own timeline. We strongly prefer that he go to a home with another cat, ideally one around his age, though age matters less than having a friendly, cat-savvy companion. He takes comfort in other cats and would benefit from a feline friend.

As for dogs and kids, we don’t have enough information to say for sure. He has seen a dog pass through without issue, but they’ve never interacted directly. Smokey also hasn’t been around children, so a quieter household may be best.

We are open to a trial adoption and are fully committed to Smokey’s well-being—if things don’t work out, we will gladly take him back. Our goal is to find him the right home, not just any home.
