My name is Wander!

Wander is a Shih Tzu puppy. Wander is A Brave Little Navigator. Don't let his lack of sight and hearing fool you—this adventurous dachshund lives life to the fullest! He is brave, playful, and endlessly curious, Wander has mastered the art of exploring his world through touch, scent, and an incredible memory.

Once he's had a chance to map out his environment, he navigates like a pro. He knows exactly where his cozy beds are scattered throughout the house and can even track down his foster mom wherever she's hiding. His five siblings are his trusted companions, and he romps and plays with them confidently, proving that his disabilities are no barrier to fun.
Communication with Wander is all about creative connection. He's learning to use his bark and responds beautifully to praise delivered as a gentle hum against his neck—a moment of vibration and warmth that tells him he's loved. He's also learning boundaries through soft puffs of breath on his face, which help him understand his limits in a kind, clear way.

This resilient boy is a testament to adaptability and spirit. He's looking for a patient, loving home that will continue nurturing his confidence and celebrating his remarkable ability to thrive. He sleeps in bed with his human. Potty training is a work in progress, but he is improving every day. He is good with other dogs and riding in a car.

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.
