My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi… I’m Baby. I came to the shelter after being surrendered because there were too many animals in the home. I didn’t get much chance to be properly socialized, so the world feels pretty overwhelming to me right now. Here in the shelter, I’m very scared and timid. I tend to hide where I feel safest, and sometimes I might let out a small hiss or worried meow when I’m frightened — it’s just my way of saying I’m unsure, not that I’m mean. What I truly need is a calm, patient adopter who understands that trust takes time. With a quiet home, gentle routines, and lots of understanding, I’ll slowly learn that I’m safe and loved. I may not be the cat who runs up for attention right away, but with patience and compassion, I have the potential to blossom into a sweet companion. If you have a soft heart, a peaceful space, and the willingness to let me go at my own pace, I would love the chance to feel safe and finally call a place home.

More about this shelter

The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society was founded in 1926 and incorporated in 1949. The Humane Society has a publicly-tendered contract with the City of Windsor to provide animal control and basic shelter services in the City. This is only a portion of the work done by our organization. In 2016 almost 12,000 animal came through the doors of our shelter and spay/neuter clinic. We can’t help them without your support.
