Peas is a 19-week-old kitten with a big personality and an even bigger sense of curiosity. He is always eager to explore his surroundings and investigate anything new, making every day an adventure with him around. Peas is extremely playful and full of energy—he loves toys, interactive playtime, and discovering new places to climb and hide. His curious nature is balanced by his sweet and affectionate side, and he enjoys being around people and getting attention.
Peas is well cared for and healthy. He is up to date on all of his vaccines and has been neutered, so he is ready for his next chapter in a loving home. He would do great with someone who enjoys an active, playful kitten and can give him plenty of love, stimulation, and attention.

We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
