My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi!  My name is Lucy and I am looking for a forever home.  I wandered onto some nice folks property very pregnant.  They took me in, tried to find my owners, and then gave me a safe place to have my babies.  They reached out to a small local rescue looking for help in finding homes for all my babies and me as well as they said they couldn't keep me.  A volunteer with that rescue reached out to BCAA to see if they could help and they said yes!  Well, all my babies are now in their forever homes and they say it's now my turn.  No one is exactly sure what mix I might be but the best guess is my size and conformation appears to be like a Boykin Spaniel but my coloring looks more like an Australian Shepherd.  I'm about 3 years old (past all of that puppy foolishness) and I weigh about 33lbs and shouldn't get any bigger.  I love getting attention and bond quickly to whoever is willing to give me some loving; in return, I will give you my heart.  I have gotten along with the other dogs I have met and haven't paid much attention to those things called cats.  I've done well in my crate without any accidents, barking or tearing up of my bedding; however, I would really, really prefer to be out with you.  I am good on leash but am excited to be out with you so I when we first go out I will go 'round and 'round letting you know.  If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.

Submit Application

Submitting an application is always our first step - it's free to apply! bcaaofnj.org

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the applicant filling out an adoption application for the pet they are interested in. When they have completed and submitted the application, the screening process is started, which consists of a vet check, phone interview and home visit. Once all the steps are completed, we determine, by our findings, if they are approved, and if so, then they are allowed to adopt from our organization. The final step is they must complete the adoption contract, along with the donation for the animal, which goes into our medical fund to defray their medical costs. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, up to date on all their shots, including rabies, they are parasite free and on heartworm preventative.
