My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Blues — a gentle soul wrapped in puppy fluff who approaches life with the calm confidence of someone who has already decided stress is not on his vision board. Blues approaches life the way a retired dad approaches a Saturday afternoon: slowly, thoughtfully, and with the quiet confidence of someone who knows the snacks will appear eventually. He enjoys exploring his surroundings at a very reasonable pace, pausing frequently to assess the situation, take in the vibes, and decide if further movement is truly necessary. When he does engage in play, it’s short, intentional, and efficient — a few quality minutes of fun, followed immediately by a well-earned nap because, frankly, he’s done enough for one day.

Blues came to us when he was just a couple of days old, alongside his mom Harmony and his sister Rhythm, after the little family found themselves in a shelter far too early in life. Now at 6 weeks old and a whopping 8.5 pounds, Blues is a male Border Collie mix… emphasis on mix. We would love to confidently tell you exactly what other breeds contributed to his gorgeous, unique coat and his unexpectedly fantastic personality, but alas — dad has chosen a life of mystery and anonymity. He’s out there somewhere, probably bragging about his genetics and refusing to answer texts. The upside? Blues is basically a daily surprise package. His looks are changing constantly, which means adopting him comes with a built-in game of “What Breed Does He Look Like Today?” It’s fun, it’s unpredictable, and it keeps things exciting — like a puppy version of a mystery grab bag, but fluffier. One thing’s for sure though: whatever the mix, whatever the look, and whatever the phase — Blues is 100% good boy. 🐾💙

Blues is, frankly, a social gentleman. Around other dogs, he’s polite, respectful, and very much operating on a “we can be friends, but I also value my personal space and nap schedule” philosophy. He’s spent his early days hanging out with his mom and sister, so he understands basic dog etiquette, and he’s also been introduced to the resident Pomeranian — which he handled like a true professional. Cats, on the other hand, remain an unsolved chapter in his life story. He has not met one yet, does not have an opinion, and has not issued a formal statement. At this time, cats are simply theoretical creatures to him — like unicorns, taxes, or dogs who don’t enjoy naps. As for kids, Blues gives off strong “old soul trapped in a baby body” energy. He’s calm, laid back, and not the type to ricochet off walls or treat small humans like climbing equipment. With proper introductions and respectful kiddos, he’d likely do just fine in a home with children.

Blues is operating at about a solid 3 out of 10 on the energy scale — which, in puppy terms, means he’s mildly curious about the world but deeply committed to rest and relaxation. He’s got just enough pep to remind you he’s alive, alert, and technically a puppy… but not so much that he’s trying to parkour off your furniture or audition for a demolition crew. Compared to his sister, he’s the slightly more adventurous sibling — the one who says, “Okay, fine, I’ll go check it out,” and then immediately needs a nap afterward. Personality-wise, Blues is easing into his playful era with all the enthusiasm of someone who enjoys fun but also values their sleep schedule. He likes to explore his surroundings in short, thoughtful bursts — a sniff here, a wander there, maybe a brief investigation of something mildly interesting — followed by a very serious nap to recover from the ordeal. Growing is exhausting, and Blues would like everyone to acknowledge that.

However — and this is the important fine print written in invisible ink — Blues is only 6 weeks old. So if you’re choosing to adopt him based on the belief that his personality is permanently set in stone and will never, ever change… we would gently like to remind you that he is basically a sentient marshmallow who was born a few weeks ago. This is the developmental equivalent of assuming a newborn baby will grow up to be chill forever because they slept well one afternoon. What you’re seeing now is a foundation — not a legally binding contract. Blues will continue to learn, adapt, and surprise you as his brain finishes installing all its updates. His curiosity will expand, his play style may change, and yes, there’s a very real chance he’ll someday discover his inner goofball gremlin.

Right now, Blues is sweet, mellow, and operating at a vibe best described as soft jazz. But don’t be fooled — he is a 6-week-old puppy, not a fully formed gentleman. Your job is to help him grow into the kind of dog who can accompany you places without causing a scene. The kind of dog who can attend a patio brunch, stroll through a park, or visit that one friend with the “please don’t touch anything” house… without you whisper-apologizing every 12 seconds. Potty training? That’s on you, fearless leader. Socialization? Also you. Blues needs to meet people, dogs, places, sounds, surfaces, and mildly offensive household objects — like vacuum cleaners, doorbells, and the suspicious trash bin that rolls by like it owns the neighborhood. Training? Yes. That, too. Blues is not secretly studying obedience manuals while you sleep. He is a blank notebook. In short: Blues brings the potential. You bring the structure, the consistency, and the ability to laugh when things get weird. 🐾💙

So, if you’re reading all of this and thinking, “Yes. This is my emotional support puppy. I need him immediately,” congratulations — you have excellent taste. Now for the slightly less romantic but very important part: if you’d like to adopt Blues, you’ll need to fill out an adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app so we can send it over to his foster family. Yes, paperwork is involved. No, you cannot just “call dibs in the comments.” This is how we make sure Blues ends up with the perfect humans who understand that puppies are a lifestyle, not an accessory.

Pickup will be in Skiatook, OK, and while we fully understand the urge to scoop him up immediately and never let go, he cannot leave until around the weekend of the 7th of February. He’s still a baby, still growing, and still busy perfecting his nap technique. Fill out the app, prepare your home, emotionally commit to puppyhood, and get ready — because Blues is worth the wait. 🐾💙
