Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sport is a 2-year-old herding mix that is handsome, smart, and friendly! This guy knows most of his basic manners and is 100% certified "good boy". Sport is housebroken, does well off leash (once he bonds and when in an appropriate off-leash area), and is a very good listener. He will need an active home that can meet the needs of a herding dog. Sport has done well with some dogs (no small dogs, please) but would also do okay as the only dog in the home. He has not been around children or cats that we are aware of. If you would like to set up a meeting with Sport, call the shelter at 906 632 2519. Please call for the quickest response to inquiries as those submitted through FB, Petfinder, and email are not always closely monitored. If you have another dog in the home, a meet and greet is required before bringing Sport home.

Go meet their pets
The CCACS is always in need of volunteers to socialize our pets while they wait for a new home. Walking dogs, brushing cats, playing with kittens and puppies...you pick what you would like to do and let us know! Our volunteer base is recognized as an important 'beat' in the heart of our shelter days. Please contact the animal shelter at 906.632.2519 for more information. Better yet, drop by the shelter and pick up an application. NO TASK IS TOO SMALL. OUR ANIMALS WOULD LOVE TO MEET YOU! You must be at least 14 years of age to volunteer. We are open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

More about this shelter
The Chippewa County Animal Control Shelter is a county managed animal shelter. The shelter is maintained by one full-time and two part-time dedicated shelter attendants who, first and foremost, put the health and care of the dogs, puppies, cats and kittens as their primary concern. Although no public animal shelter finds it easy to maintain a no kill policy, we are VERY PROUD that we adhere to strict directives where euthanasia is concerned. Very stringent protocol has been adopted where loss of animal life is considered.
