Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Cheer - the gentle soul ready to brighten your world!
Cheer is a 2‑year‑old wirehaired fox terrier weighing in at 24 pounds. She came to us as an unclaimed stray, and despite her uncertain start, she's already showing us what a lovely little dog she truly is.
Cheer is currently a bit shy and timid, but she's making steady progress every day. New people and unfamiliar situations can feel overwhelming for her right now, so her future family should be prepared to give her the time and patience she needs to settle in. With a gentle approach and a calm environment, we're confident she'll blossom into the happy, affectionate girl we know she can be.
Because she's still learning to feel safe in new situations, a home without small children-or one that can provide very structured, quiet decompression time-would be the best fit for her. She's shown interest in other dogs and seems perfectly comfortable around cats, so a home with respectful furry friends could be a great match.
Cheer is up to date on all vaccines, has no known medical concerns, and will be spayed soon. She's simply waiting for the right person or family to help her feel secure and loved.
If you're looking for a gentle companion who just needs a little extra understanding, Cheer might be the perfect addition to your home. Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Brown Brindle Weight: 24.6 Age: 2yrs 0mths 3wks

More about this shelter
The Humane Society of Wicomico County was started in 1968 by a group of people who wanted to help improve the lives of animals. We have come a long way in our 40+ years! We have a staff dedicated to making sure the animals that come to our doors are loved and protected as they wait for their forever home. Not only are our animals vaccinated, wormed and given flea preventative, we can treat animals that come to us with mange, ringworm, heartworm and pay for animals to be seen by an outside vet should there be a need. We have an on-site spay/neuter clinic that not only is used for our animals but we also offer low cost spay/neuter for animals of the public. We provide emergency boarding for victims of domestic abuse, fire, and medical emergencies. We also have the capability to set up an off-site emergency shelter for people evacuated from their homes. In addition, we have an education program to help teach kids about being a responsible pet guardian. We work with a wide range of rescue groups and our animals have been transported from our mid-Atlantic area throughout the North Eastern United States. Our shelter is an open admission shelter and we will take in approximately 3500 animals this year. We do what we do because of our love for animals and our desire to make a difference in their lives every single day.
