My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET PIPER!

Piper is a darling young girl we estimate to be around a year old, and she is pure joy wrapped up in fur. She’s got that irresistible puppy energy—bouncy, happy, and full of life—without the nippy or chaotic behaviors that sometimes come with it. Instead, Piper’s favorite place to be? Right in your arms. If given the chance, she’ll happily jump up for a cuddle and soak up all the love you’re willing to give.

This sweet girl has recently discovered her love for fetch, and it quickly became her favorite game. Once you’ve got a tennis ball in hand, Piper transforms—she’ll sit perfectly still, eyes locked on you, waiting for the throw. She’s great about bringing the ball right back and has shown no issues with resource guarding, happily handing it over so the fun can continue.

Piper also loves toys of all kinds and would thrive in a home that enjoys playtime, movement, and interactive fun. While we haven’t yet tested her with other dogs or cats, her young age and go-with-the-flow personality suggest she could do well in a variety of home settings with proper introductions.

If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate, toy-loving sweetheart who’s equal parts energy and snuggles, Piper may just be the perfect addition to your family. Come meet her—just be prepared to fall in love fast.

If you would like to meet Piper, please submit an application for her on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. She is spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $250, which covers part of the medical care she will receive.

**Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth.
Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

More about this shelter

We are a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter comprised mostly of volunteers. We take in cats and dogs from local shelters and the public who can no longer care for their pets. Each of the volunteers at FMAR has a tremendous amount of love for animals and simply wants to do what they can to ensure that as many animals as possible find a forever home. Until then, each animal has a home at FMAR indefinitely.
