My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! Were Kiara and Kion, a bonded sister-and-brother duo named after The Lion King, and were looking for a forever home together. Were both one year old, and while our family loves us dearly, allergies mean they had to make the hard decision to help us find a new place to land.

ImKiara, the gray tabby sister, and Im the confident, curious one. If youre home, I want to know what youre doingand Ill probably follow you from room to room to supervise. I love head rubs, leg brushes, and once I trust you, Ill happily flop over for belly rubs. Im not the biggest fan of being held, but Ilovecuddling on my own terms, especially during TV time. Im a serious toy collector: strings, pom-poms, pipe cleaners, felt toysif its soft and small, Ive probably hidden it under the couch. I chirp when I hunt and greet you right at the door when you come home.

My quieter brother who is gray/brown with black stripes is Kion. He likes to take his time warming up, but once he does, he is incredibly sweet. During the day he tends to keep to himselfunless he is hungry or birdwatchingbut at night he will come find you for affection. He loves laser toys, hide-and-seek games, and string, and hell yowl if he accidentally gets stuck in a room. He doesnt seek being held, but he wont fight it either, and he adores head rubs.

Weve grown up with gentle kids (ages 812) and did great with them. We wrestle, nap, cuddle, and always look for comfort in each other. Our perfect day includes good food, playtime, outdoor watching, and curling up together with our people nearby. If youre looking for two affectionate, well-mannered cats who truly love each other, we might be your perfect match.

More about this shelter

As many of you may already know, we have a mission: To enhance the lives of Montgomery County Maryland residents and animals through programs directed at education, adoption, animal shelter, and low cost spay/neuter. The AWLMC is committed to ending the euthanasia of adoptable animals in Montgomery County, Maryland. With this in mind, we are partnering with the county shelter to help save the most at-risk animals. Currently, we are only working with cats.

In order to save as many cats as possible, we have opened a no-kill shelter in Gaithersburg. We need your help in the form of direct financial donations and by volunteering your time. Our organization is strong and full of highly dedicated volunteers of all ages, backgrounds, professions and abilities. We are working together to save the lives of cats and kittens, to find them loving, forever homes and to have them spay/neutered. All of our cats and kittens are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.

We are the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County.
