My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bellastray may have grown up on the street but she has definitely grown to love her new life! She is a very high energy pup that will need a lot of exercise and mental enrichment, but she will be the most loyal companion you’ve ever had. If she had a sibling to play with she’d love that too, especially if they like to play tug-of-war! That is her absolute favorite game to play and she’s very good at it! She has very good “dog manners” and can get along with basically any dog so far.

I think Bellastray would be an amazing hiking/camping/hunting/adventure buddy if that’s your thing! She grew up outdoors and still loves being outside, including going for long walks. I honestly think she’s basically a miniature German Shorthaired Pointer because she acts a lot like other GSP and hunting dogs that I know. But she’s just as happy to “hunt” and rip up toys in the house too haha!

She’s not much a cuddlebug, but she will happily curl up next to your pillow to sleep next to you all night. And she LOVES a good butt scratch. She’ll loop around your legs like a cat to show affection but as soon as you scratch her butt she stops dead in her tracks. She is also very food driven, very common for dogs that grew up on the street, but she is not aggressive or possessive about it thankfully. She does need a slow feeder and should be kept away from other dogs that are eating so she doesn’t steal theirs, and so others don’t steal from her because she’ll let them (she’s happy to share haha!)

More about this rescue

The Follow Your Heart Foundation is committed to preventing the unnecessary euthanization and abuse of abandoned and/or abused animals.

In order to fulfill this mission, Follow Your Heart will engage in the following activities:

Foster Program-Animals will be rescued from shelters and placed in temporary foster homes to save them from being euthanized. During this time, animals will be provided with proper nutrition, shelter and analysis to determine appropriate long term housing.

Adoption Services - the organization will work to find each animal that is rescued a forever home that is willing and able to make the long term commitment to a family pet.

Public Education - Abuse, neglect and irresponsible pet ownership leads to thousands of animals being killed each year. One way to combat these issues is through continued public education to not only raise awareness about animal abuse, but also promote responsible pet ownership.

Medical Treatment - Animals rescued will be provided proper medical treatment as needed.
