A gentle eight-year-old Cockapoo currently in Naperville, IL, whose mellow charm is wrapped in a soft, wavy tan coat that hardly sheds and always invites snuggles.
Weighing in at 29 pounds (with a goal of trimming to a healthy 25), Cooper is a sweet, affectionate companion who has shared his life with children, adults, and even a cat. He’s grown up alongside toddlers and young kids, and he continues to be calm, patient, and responsive with little ones who respect his space, especially his sensitive ears. He coexists peacefully with cats, choosing calm companionship over interaction. When it comes to dogs, though, Cooper prefers to be the only pup in the home. While he’s never been aggressive or bitten another animal, he can show resource guarding behaviors around toys and food when other dogs are present. His perfect match is a family where he can be the center of attention, something he truly thrives on.
Cooper is house-trained, crate-trained, and an all-around easy guy to live with. When he needs to go outside, he’ll patiently sit by the door and give a soft “huff”, his polite way of speaking up. He knows several commands, including “sit,” “come,” “scootch,” and “go for a ride,” and he walks beautifully on leash. When left alone, he naps peacefully with the hum of a TV or radio and never gets into trouble. At night, he’s happy curling up in bed or snoozing in his crate, as long as he has a fleece blanket and his favorite stuffed toys close by.
This cuddle-loving boy absolutely adores belly rubs! If you pause too soon, expect a gentle paw as a reminder to keep going. His daily joys include walks, soft zoomies, puzzle toys, and showing off a toy when you return home. He’s playful but never demanding, and he happily joins in when kids want to engage.
He’s healthy with no ongoing medical needs, and his mild acid reflux has been fully managed with a simple homemade diet. He’ll arrive freshly groomed, ready to charm his way into your heart!
Cooper would flourish in a calm home, perhaps with kids or someone who works from home, where he can be the center of attention. Could Cooper be the cozy-hearted companion you’ve been waiting for? To learn more or apply to adopt Cooper, email adopt@joyfulpets.com!
