A bit bashful Boone here. That name comes from French for “good” and “blessing” and “kind”. This whole shelter thing is new to me so I’m a bit timid but warm up quickly. My walkers say I’m a dream on leash and prefer a nice strolling pace. Once I get to know you, I’ll show you my wiggle and sweet, affectionate well-mannered “good boy” self.
I may need a short transition period as I learn a new routine, but with just a little patience, my affectionate nature will shine through. I’m ready for a second chance at a forever home where I can show my love and be loved. Please check me out and bring the family and other pups for a “Meet & Greet”. If you’re looking for Mr. Mellow, I’m your guy.
A team member shares, "I walked Boone yesterday and what a delightful big boy. His desire for affection made for a great walk. He just soaked up the pets on his chin. The look in his eyes made me realize Boone would easily adapt to a new home with ample affection. Because Boone responds so well to affection I can't imagine he would have a hard time adapting to new surroundings. The way Boone responded to sit and lay down commands, I realized Boone wants to please."

More about this shelter
Founded in 1965, Animal Humane New Mexico is the state’s leading private 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization serving more than 10,000 homeless and at-risk dogs & cats each year. We never euthanize based on age or length of stay and since 2010, have re-homed 100% of healthy pets in our care. We support every companion animal at Animal Humane with outstanding veterinary, social and emotional care, and love.
As a private nonprofit shelter, we receive no city, state or federal funding; each dollar judiciously spent is earned or raised. We are nationally recognized as a top U.S. charity based on financial accountability, transparency, and administrative-to-program cost ratios. Animal Humane is among only 9 percent of nationwide charities to have received five consecutive annual four-star evaluations, the highest possible, from Charity Navigator, including a top score of 100 for accountability and transparency.
