Lady is a stunning 2.5-year-old kitty with long, silky fur, expressive eyes, and a tiny 8-pound frame. She may be small, but she has a big heart and an even bigger capacity for love once she feels safe.
Lady’s favorite things in the world include cuddling with her humans, soaking up affection, and watching the neighborhood go by from a sunny window perch. She’s a true people-cat — sweet, affectionate, and happiest when she has a trusted human nearby. Once she warms up, she becomes a full-time love bug and an excellent companion for someone who enjoys a quiet, cozy home.
Lady had a rough start in life and spent her early years confined to a single room, which made her shy at first and uncomfortable around other cats. Despite many efforts to help her coexist with the resident cats, she remains territorial and will lunge or chase them. Because her stress comes from sharing space with other animals, her current family is making the compassionate choice to find her a home where she can thrive as the only pet.
Lady’s Ideal Home:
Lady would do best in a calm, low-key environment with no other cats and no young children. She will shine with an adopter who understands that new environments can feel overwhelming at first and who is willing to let her settle in at her own pace. In return, she’ll reward you with loyalty, gentle affection, and lots of “window-TV” entertainment.
Health & Vet Info:
Lady is spayed, up to date on vaccines, negative for FIV/FeLV, and recently seen by a vet. She does have a heart murmur that her current caretaker monitors. Her adopter should be comfortable continuing routine vet care.
FFOCAS is assisting Lady and her current family in securing a safe and appropriate forever home that matches her needs. Lady is a sweet, affectionate cat who simply prefers being the only feline in the home. We will be screening for her best fit to ensure a smooth and stress-free transition.

More about this rescue
Frederick Friends of Our County Animal Shelter (FFOCAS) is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit "friends" group helping our local county-run animal shelter. On this page, we list the pets available through our facilitated rehoming program, Project Hope. We aim to help pet parents safely rehome their pets when they can no longer care for them. Reducing intake at our partner shelter saves lives in two ways: (1) by ensuring that pets rehomed through Project Hope never enter the shelter and (2) by leaving more time and resources available at the shelter for those pets who do go to the shelter. In addition to Project Hope, we have our Cats with Character program, through which we take in primarily special needs kitties who are not doing well at our partner shelter, and Brooke's Medical Fund, through which we cover veterinary costs for shelter pets. Check out our website for more information!
