Twinkle You may think you are seeing double, but I have a sister, Cha Cha, who looks like me. Although we are littermates, we are not exactly alike. I am smaller, at 14.8 pounds, and I have a smidge less grey on my head. But I am snowy white everywhere else. I’m 7-years-old and already spayed. My sis and I lived with our owner all our lives, but he surrendered us to HSHC on January 4. I don’t know why; you’ll have to ask him. I admit, when I first checked in, I was scared, stressed, and wanted to run away. But now that I’ve had some time to think about it, it is not so bad here! The staff and volunteers are very kind and show me plenty of love. Even though it may take me a while to feel comfy with new people, I am basically a cuddle-bug and love attention. I know I need to slim down a bit, and the HSHC has put me on a diet designed to help me lose weight. In my first home, I was terrified by the children and would always hide when they were out and about. The shelter feels that I will be best suited to a home with kids aged 10 and older who will respect my need for space. I was also frightened by the dog and would hide from him. Just call me a scaredy cat! Things I love are: chasing the laser pointer, eating Temptation cat treats, and catnip! Although Cha Cha and I are not bonded and do not need to be adopted together, we got along well, often playing at night when everyone was asleep. I even let her eat my food if she wanted to. I am looking forward to having a new owner who will let me curl up on their lap. How about you? 2-11-26

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
