Here's what the humans have to say about me:
🐾 Meet Mister Ranger!
Mister Ranger is all smiles and sunshine wrapped into one handsome pup. With his happy grin, wagging tail, and bright eyes, Ranger has a way of instantly lifting the mood of everyone around him. He’s the kind of dog who looks like he’s always ready for the next adventure — or at least the next belly rub.
Ranger has a friendly, outgoing personality and clearly enjoys being around people. He loves attention, thrives on interaction, and brings a joyful energy wherever he goes. Whether he’s cruising around checking things out or soaking up love from his humans, Ranger does everything with enthusiasm and heart.
He would be a great match for a home looking for a fun-loving companion who enjoys staying engaged and being part of daily life. Ranger’s cheerful spirit and affectionate nature make him an easy dog to fall in love with.
If you’re looking for a dog whose smile says it all, Mister Ranger might just be your perfect match.

More about this shelter
We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
