Owl is a cute male kitten who was brought to the HSOV on October 5, 2025 by a Good Samaritan who found him on School House Road in the Little Hocking Ohio area all by himself without a mother/siblings in sight. Owl was estimated to have been 8-weeks old at that time and weighed just 1.3 lbs. He was in desperate need of medical attention and extra TLC (which our HSOV kennel techs quickly provided).
This little sweetheart has a sleek black short smooth coat, a long tail, and an adorable kitten face with golden eyes, a black button nose and long black whiskers.
Owl has a super sweet disposition and playful personality. He is good with other kittens as well as children.
Owl has shared a cage with another young kitten (Buggy) who arrived at HSOV around the same time, so they have naturally become best friends.
Owl was given vaccinations and Drontal wormer on October 18, 2025. He was given booster vaccines on November 6th and November 22, 2025. He weighed 2.9 lbs on November 22nd.
These photos were taken on January 10, 2026 when HSOV kennel techs Lauryn Hamilton, Madison Lee, and Hannah McClain assisted Owl and his best friend Buggy with their 'big boy/big girl' photos. Owl and Buggy are full of playful kitten energy and would love to find a home together so that they could continue a lifetime of camaraderie and silly kitty games. It was touching to see Owl assuming the 'big brother' role when they were together during their photo session.
Owl will be neutered (tentative in February 2026) before being adopted by his new family (a requirement for HSOV adoptions to be finalized).

The HSOV Adoption application is available at our shelter during normal hours of operation and may also be completed online via our website.

Shelter management reviews applications for approval. If approved, potential adopters will be notified.

All HSOV dogs and cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted and going to their new home.

Our adoption process includes an adoption application which must be completed and approved by our shelter management. We verify veterinarian references and also approval from landlords if the pet will be housed in rental property. Home visits may also be required prior to adoption. All dogs/cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted.
Adoption fee for dogs is $150.00 which includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, dog tag, microchip, and spay/neuter.
Adoption fee for cats is $40 and includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, and spay/neuter. Most adult cats (and kittens over 3-months of age) have already been spayed/neutered.
Adoption fees for other species varies.
