My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Hi there, I’m Double Whammy Sammy! 🐾
I’m a handsome, well-mannered Boxer / Mountain Cur mix, about 7 months old, and I proudly specialize in being a world-class love bug. 💕 I may still be young, but I’ve already lived quite the story—and I’m ready for my happily ever after. I had a rough start in life. For my first three months, I lived in a small cage and didn’t get to experience much of the world. After that, I was surrendered to a shelter and then sent to a foster home, where I finally learned about kind humans, fun toys, and how amazing soft beds can be. 🛏️✨ A few months later, I was adopted by a loving family who truly cared for me, but sadly allergies and very young, unsteady grandchildren meant they couldn’t keep me—so here I am, still full of love and hope.

I absolutely adore people of all ages and get along great with other dogs and even cats! 🐶🐱 I do get excited and like to jump up to say hello (I just love everyone!), so I’d do best in a home without balance concerns, such as unsteady toddlers or elderly folks—at least until I finish polishing up my manners. The good news? I’m smart, eager to please, and highly treat-motivated, so training comes easily to me. 🧠🍪 I’m an energetic boy and thrive with an active lifestyle and a yard where I can run, explore, and burn off my zoomies. My favorite things include outdoor adventures, tug-of-war, splashing in puddles, snuggling up with my people, and—fair warning—I will happily help you dig in the garden. 🌧️🌱 I do have a high prey drive, so I’ll chase chickens, rabbits, and squirrels if given the chance.

I walk well on a leash, travel like a pro, and I’m fully house-trained and crate-trained. Inside the house, I love settling into a comfy bed in an open crate and watching the world go by through the window. 🪟 I’m usually quiet, but I will alert you when someone arrives, which makes me a pretty great little guard dog, too. I already know sit and stay, and I’m working on come, fetch, boundary training, and even “paws” so I can wipe my feet when I come inside. I love both soft and hard chew toys, and honestly—if you’ve got treats, you’ve got my heart. ❤️ If you think I might be the energetic, affectionate companion you’ve been looking for, I’d love to meet you. You can call the shelter at 479-394-5682 to learn more about me. I can’t wait to find my forever family! 🐾
