My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fiji is a striking tortoiseshell beauty with expressive eyes and a thoughtful, observant nature. She prefers a calm, predictable environment where she can settle in, choose her favorite spots, and relax on her own terms. Fiji isn’t the type to demand constant attention — she’s happiest when she can quietly coexist, watch the world around her, and enjoy the comfort of familiar surroundings.

As she becomes more comfortable, Fiji shows a curious side, exploring more confidently when things are quiet and she feels safe. She enjoys peaceful companionship and does well with other cats, making her a good fit for a low-key, multi-cat home. She hasn’t spent much time around dogs, so a dog-free home may be best, and while she has been gently petted by children, Fiji would do best in an adult-only or very calm household that understands feline boundaries.

Fiji is a sensitive cat who can become overwhelmed by too much activity or change. She thrives with patient, cat-savvy humans who respect her signals and allow her to build trust at her own pace. In the right home — one that’s quiet, stable, and understanding — Fiji’s personality truly shines, and she rewards her people with her presence, quiet companionship, and unmistakable tortie charm.

If you’re looking for a beautiful, independent cat who values calm connection and mutual respect, Fiji may be your perfect match.

Additional adoption info

We adopt animals to homes in the Los Angeles area and neighboring counties.

To help ensure that we place our cats in loving, responsible, committed homes, we have a screening process before you can adopt a pet from Kitten Rescue. We reserve the right to turn down potential adopters as we deem necessary. First, we ask that you complete our Adoption Questionnaire at kittenrescue.org/cat-adoption-form/. You can complete the form online or you may stop by a weekly adoption event to complete form in person. Second, a home visit or a home delivery of the cat or kitten is also required as part of our adoption process.

The Kitten Rescue adoption fee is $150 for a kitten or cat up to 10 years old, and $100 for each additional kitten or cat to the same household ($250 if you adopt a pair). Cats above 10 years old have a fee reduction of 50%, for an adoption fee of $75 each.

All of our cats have already been:
Spayed or neutered
Vaccinated – with at least one FVRCP vaccination
Treated for fleas
Dewormed
Tested for FeLV (Feline Leukemia) and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus)
Microchipped

More about this rescue

Kitten Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization devoted to finding loving homes for unwanted, homeless cats and kittens. We rescue cats and kittens from the streets of Los Angeles and from City Shelter euthanasia. Since our start in 1997, we have grown into one of the largest, most well-respected animal welfare groups in LA.

Kitten Rescue volunteers adopt out over 2,000 cats and kittens into homes every year. We educate the public about responsible pet guardianship, how to care for kittens and cats, and the importance of spaying and neutering. Kitten Rescue makes educational material available via events, print, school presentations and here on our website. We also provide Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) assistance for communities in and around Los Angeles, and teach people how to manage and care for feral cat colonies.
