My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***Drako is BONDED to Blakely and they need to be adopted together!***

Meet Drako and Blakely!

This mixed/matched pair found themselves in a Texas impound after their owner died and there were too many animals in the home for family to take in. They spent some time in this rescue where they learned how bonded these two were. When separated, they become incredibly stressed, depressed, and shut down. However, once they are reunited with each other, they become happy, confident and loving!

They were having trouble finding a rescue that was able to take them both so they then made the long journey to Minnesota to come to our facility! Blakely is the younger one at roughly about 1 year old where her buddy Drako is about 2 or 3. Blakely was estimated to be some sort Kelpie mix, but it is really hard to say for sure. Drako is estimated to be some sort of Maltese or yorkie mix.

This adorable pair is on the hunt to find their perfect forever home where they can spend their days playing, cuddling up together, and romping through a yard. If you have room in your house and heart for these two, apply online today!

Adoption fee for the pair is $400 + $30 microchip fee (each) + tax

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Paws and Claws Humane Society (PCHS) is a non-profit, mostly volunteer organization that rescues and shelters homeless cats and dogs until they can be adopted into their “forever” homes. We want our clients to understand that adopting and animal is a lifetime responsibility and commitment to that animal.

All prospective adopters must show (at the time of adoption) a valid drivers license or other acceptable identification to verify their name, address, and age. Adopters must be 18 yrs of age. Children under the age of 12 years old need to be present at time of viewing shelter cats or dogs.

After submitting an application, there is generally a processing period of 1-3 days in order to complete all pre-adoption checks and paperwork before an adopter may take possession of the animal.

More about this rescue

Paws and Claws Humane Society is committed to partnering with the community to shelter, protect, and seek adoptive homes for abandoned or lost companion animals.

We have served Southern Minnesota for over 30 years and we are the largest shelter in the 8 surrounding counties that does not limit the length of stay for the animals in its care.

Paws & Claws is funded completely on donations and fundraising events and receives no federal, state, county or city funds. We currently have nearly 900 dues paying members.

Paws & Claws has a community fund to help pay for the spaying and neutering of companion animals for those who cannot afford it.

We give over 40 tours and presentations annually, educating the public [including over 400 children] about proper animal care and the importance of spaying and neutering companion animals to help control the pet population in Southern Minnesota.

We have over 110 families that participate in the Guardian Angel Program [sponsoring animals] each month.

Paws & Claws will take in an injured animal and get the emergency medical care that it requires.

Local veterinarians in and around Rochester help Paws & Claws by providing over 145 free spay or neuters each year.

In a typical year the shelter will facilitate adoptions and provide care for over 600 dogs and cats.
