Name: Ruby
DOB: ~September 3, 2024
Rescued: October 2024
Location: Fostered in Shakespeare
Medical Status:
Spayed • Vaccinated • Microchipped
Tripod (left rear leg amputated)
Special needs: paralysis & incontinence
Background:
Ruby came into care in October 2024 alongside her mom, Opal, and two siblings. From the start, Ruby faced challenges — she dragged her left hind leg, causing repeated abrasions. With time and testing, it became clear she had sustained a spinal injury at birth or shortly after, resulting in paralysis. She has no sensation in her tail or privates and requires regular bladder and bowel expression.
And yet… Ruby never let any of that stop her.
She raced through her foster home just like any other kitten — curious, determined, and full of life. Due to ongoing infections, her left hind leg was ultimately amputated, and once again Ruby adapted beautifully. Her foster mom learned alongside her, advocating fiercely every step of the way. Today, Ruby is thriving and living her very best life.
Personality & Traits:
💎 Tripawd — and absolutely wonderful
💪 Strong-willed, confident, and bursting with personality
🎾 Loves pom-pom balls most of all, plus springs and track balls
🐱🐶 Does well with cats and dogs
🤍 Forms a deep bond with her human, as she depends on them more than most
Special Care Needs:
•Requires regular bladder and bowel expression
•Mobility-adapted but active and playful
•Thrives with routine, patience, and committed caregivers
Ideal Home:
•A compassionate, dedicated family open to special-needs care
•Someone who understands that Ruby gives back tenfold what she requires
•A home where she will be cherished not despite her differences, but because of them
Special Notes:
Ruby is not defined by what she can’t do — she is defined by her joy, her determination, and her incredible capacity for love. She is truly one of a kind and is searching for a very special family willing to walk beside her for life.
✨ Ruby doesn’t need saving — she needs believing in. And loving. ✨
