My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Barney Rubble!
Barney is a 14-year-old, 12 lb sweet little nap-lover who’s just looking for a calm, cozy home to call his own.
Just like his Flintstones namesake, Barney is a chill, easygoing bestie who’s happiest living the simple life—comfy beds, warm blankets, snack breaks, and a good long snooze.
He loves blankets and dog beds (comfort is very important to him) and is happiest when he can curl up and snooze the day away. He isn’t super cuddly right now, but he enjoys being near his person and feels safest with a predictable routine.
Because Barney has reduced vision and is hearing impaired, he may bark when he feels unsure or confused—he’s simply trying to figure out what’s going on around him. With patience and consistency, he’ll feel more confident and secure.
No aggression shown.
Mealtime is his favorite part of the day. He eats in his crate and does great with that, but prefers to come right back out afterward.
Barney is currently eating Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin Small Breed Salmon due to a chicken allergy.
He also has an abnormal rear gait, which may just be weakness, so a home that can help him take it easy (and avoid lots of stairs) would be ideal.
If you’re looking for a laid-back little buddy who just wants naps, snacks, and a safe place to land, Barney Rubble might be your perfect match. To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.

Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. As long as they need rescue, that's what is most important to us.

More about this rescue

Long Way Home was created to provide the last stop for animals displaced from their homes, deemed "unadoptable" by other rescues, or that need a level of care their previous owners or other shelters are unable or unwilling to provide.
