My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Patty is a sweet female Pointer mix with a gorgeous black-and-white coat sprinkled with charming speckles. She weighs a petite 35 pounds and has a friendly, outgoing personality. Patty loves meeting new people and brings lots of fun, happy energy wherever she goes.

Patty arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from a partner shelter in Oklahoma and tested positive for Heartworm. While that may sound scary, the staff believes the best place for Heartworm-positive dogs like Patty to complete treatment and recover is in a loving, forever home.

If you choose to adopt Patty, our clinic staff will support you every step of the way—answering questions and guiding you through the process. Heartworm treatment typically takes about three months and includes some simple at-home care to keep Patty safe while she heals. A follow-up test is done six months after treatment begins.

The good news? Heartworm treatment has a very high success rate, and the staff fully expects Patty to make a complete recovery! Plus, Heartworm is only transmitted between animals through mosquitoes—never through direct contact.

Patty is ready to find a home full of love, patience, and adventure. 🐾💕

All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.
