My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kaylee is a 6-year-old Rough Collie with a big presence, a bigger coat, and an even bigger heart. From the moment you meet her, she’s friendly, polite, and happy to make a good impression—often sealed with one of her signature Collie chin kisses. She enjoys interacting with people, has lovely manners (no jumping!), and knows her “sit” cue very well.

On leash, Kaylee is a pleasure. She walks nicely without pulling and is calm and attentive. At home, she’s equally well-behaved—she is not destructive (no chewing, digging, or mischief). One thing to know about Kaylee: she is vocal and likes to keep her humans informed of interesting sounds or sights. She takes her neighborhood watch duties seriously!

Other Dogs

Kaylee can live with other dogs, though slow introductions are important. She can be a bit pushy or dominant in her play style and was initially standoffish with her current canine companion. With time and proper introductions, they are now great friends—playing together, sharing beds and toys, and happily coexisting. Considering that successful match is between two adult females, that’s no small achievement!

Cats & Other Animals

Cats are unfortunately a no for Kaylee. She is very reactive to them, and even dog-savvy cats are uncomfortable around her. We believe she would chase, and the safest choice is a cat-free home. We don’t have experience with young children or small dogs, so we can’t offer guidance there. Kaylee is a big solidly built Collie with a thick, beautiful coat.

The Ideal Home

Kaylee would thrive with someone who appreciates:

  • A well-mannered, affectionate adult dog

  • A vocal Collie personality

  • A cat-free household

Kaylee is a wonderful blend of sweet, sensible, and spirited. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with classic Collie charm and don’t mind a little commentary on daily life, Kaylee just might be your girl.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

It is Collie Rescue, Inc’s responsibility to place the animals that we rescue into an environment compatible with their needs and to ensure their adoption is in the best interest of both the animal and the adopter. Following are a few guidelines to help you understand the adoption process:

All rescued animals receive the following:

- Spay/Neuter

- DHPP & Rabies Vaccines

- Heartworm Test

- Monthly Heartworm Preventative (Interceptor) while in our care

- Fecal Exam

- Deworming, if needed

- Microchip Implant

- Bath, Groom, Frontline while in our care

Collie Rescue, Inc. will contact your veterinarian for a reference.

Collie Rescue, Inc., or an approved third party, will perform a home visit before the rescued animal is placed with the adopter. The home visit is performed to assure us that the prospective rescue will be a good match for your household. If necessary, areas of concern and helpful suggestions will be discussed either during or after the home visit.

There is a $300 adoption fee. The adoption fee pays for the veterinary expenses of the rescued animals.

The adopter must sign a legally binding adoption contract.

The adopter must return the animal to Collie Rescue, Inc. in the event they can no longer keep it.

The adopter represents that all members of the household have never been charged with cruelty to animals.

If the adopter moves, they must notify Collie Rescue, Inc. of their new address and phone numbers. (Collie Rescue, Inc. registers the microchip and therefore needs to keep adoption records current should the rescue animal become lost.)
