Note: Luna needs a new foster or forever home by the end of February 2026. His foster family will be selling their home and moving.
Luna's Personality
Luna is a very friendly, inquisitive, and confident kitty. Despite his name, Luna is a BOY! When he was a kitten, his family thought he was a girl. He is a very social cat - he loves hanging out with his foster family and when guests come into your home he walks right up to greet them and often plops down on the ground to entice them to play with him. He loves being petted, and perching in front of a window to watch the world go by outdoors. Luna can be quite talkative so be prepared to have conversations with him!
Luna loves interactive playtime with his foster family. One of his favorite interactions is when you wave a string on a wand so he can play with and jump on it. He also plays with toys on his own and likes having a box or drawer full of toys that he can rummage through and decide what to play with next. Luna also loves to hop inside a box or a paper bag. He even plays "hide and seek" with you - he will hide and loves having you look for him then he'll gently jump out at you.
What Type of Home Luna Needs
Luna needs a home where he gets plenty of interaction with people and has room to roam around. He is used to living in a single family home with multiple people, including children. A home with more than one person would be ideal. A single person home could work if that person is home a good part of the time and has guests that visit. A family with older kids (over 12 yrs of age) who are cat-savvy would be great, but no young children. He can get a little 'mouthy' when he plays - we are teaching him some manners. We don't know how he would be with other cats or dogs.
Where Luna Came From
Luna came from a loving home that was no longer able to care for him. So they contacted their neighborhood "cat lady" who happens to be an SPCA NOVA volunteer to ask for help finding Luna a new home.
PLEASE NOTE: we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA.
