My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Born in rescue on November 27, Ivy entered the world as one of 13 puppies (yes, thirteen!) to her sweet mama, Sandy. From day one, Ivy has been surrounded by love and care— and it shows in her confident, happy personality.

Ivy is a classic lab mix pup with a playful streak and a soft, snuggly side. She loves tearing around the house and yard with her  brother,  playing with her humans, and then—when the energy tank hits empty—curling right up in your lap for a well-earned nap. Play hard, cuddle harder is kind of her philosophy.

For such a young puppy, Ivy is already crushing it. She sleeps all night in her crate (we know, we’re impressed too) and is currently accident-free. She’s also super smart, picking up on routines quickly and showing all the signs of being a pup who will thrive with training, enrichment, and consistency.

Ivy would love a home with another dog to play with and learn from, and she’d do best with kids 8 and up. Like all puppies, she’s in her teething phase, and those little shark teeth are very real — older kids will be better able to handle her enthusiastic puppy love.

If you’re looking for a joyful, clever, cuddle-loving puppy who had a dramatic entrance into the world and is now ready to take center stage in a forever home, Ivy might just be your gir

The adoption fee of $550 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed!

*please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we try to ensure applicants live within a reasonable radius of the foster family. Thank you for your understanding.

Go meet their pets

We are not a shelter. We are a group of pet lovers and advocates who are committed to targeted rescue. Starfish Animal Rescue is a licensed rescue that is run by an all volunteer staff.
Once we rescue a dog or cat, it is placed in one of our foster homes until we are able to find it a suitable home. We are happy to set up an appointment to meet our pets once we receive and review your completed application.

We do our best to process applications quickly but please understand that we are a foster based rescue and that our volunteers work jobs; many are full time. Sending in a completed application is the best way to facilitate this process. You can go on our website www.starfishanimalrescue.com and download an application
Once your application is reviewed, we will put you in contact with the dog's foster family to set up a time to meet the pet of your choice!
Thank you for supporting our rescue and what we are trying to accomplish in southeastern Kentucky.
