Meet Harlequin (Harley)!
Harlequin has already proven just how special she is. She appeared in a family’s backyard shortly after they moved in, and as they began feeding her, they realized she was pregnant. One of her older kittens initially accompanied her at mealtimes, but sadly disappeared. On the rainy evening of July 12th, Harlequin began scratching at the family’s back porch door, clearly asking for help. When they followed her, it was evident she had given birth. Concerned for her safety and her newborn kittens, the family brought Harlequin and her babies inside.

The family lovingly cared for Harlequin—affectionately called Harley by her foster mom—and her kittens until the babies were fully weaned. Harlequin was spayed and received all her necessary vaccinations. While the family chose to keep the kittens, they were unable to keep Harlequin. When they were unsuccessful in finding her a home and planned to return her outdoors, a family friend reached out to Cat Matchers, ensuring Harlequin would get the chance she truly deserves.

Now a Cat Matchers foster, Harlequin is patiently waiting for her forever home. She is shy when first meeting new people but warms up quickly and reveals herself to be incredibly sweet, gentle, and affectionate. She loves cuddles and pets and will even allow nose kisses from the people she trusts. Once she feels safe, she enjoys playing and exploring her surroundings.

Harlequin was a devoted and attentive mother. Because she tends to protect her food around other cats, she would do best as an only cat. She is comfortable being on her own for periods of time, but when you’re home, expect a soft, loving companion eager for attention. She doesn’t mind being carried briefly and can be a lap cat when it suits her.

Loud noises can startle Harlequin, so a quieter home would suit her best. She has been around children ages 7 through the late teens and has done well with them.

Harlequin is a gentle soul who has already endured a lot and is ready to finally be someone’s cherished companion. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate cat who will reward your patience with trust and love, Harlequin may be your perfect match.
