Bambi came into our care in August 2025 after a night security officer at a park in Miami-Dade, FL reached out about a dumped rabbit who appeared to be blind and was stumbling around, running into the curb. The park, unfortunately, a common dumping ground for domestic rabbits.
It just so happened to be the birthday of one of our board members, who felt it was meant to be. She was already caring for 6 fosters but created an emergency space so that Bambi could come into our care.
It was immediately clear he had been through a lot:
⢠one of his incisors was chipped and broken off at the gum line
⢠his nose was torn and split down the middle
⢠he had trauma to both eyes and was partially blind
⢠his back was covered in scar tissue from bite wounds
Our best guess was that Bambi had been kept with other unfixed rabbits who bullied him, causing most of his injuries, and that at some point he was dropped or suffered a fall, resulting in his broken tooth.
The good news is that Bambi is a fighter. His broken tooth grew back perfectly, and after 4 months of dedicated care from his foster, he regained his strength. Once healthy enough, in January 2026 he was neutered, and during surgery Dr. Pardini also performed reconstructive surgery on his nose, carefully stitching it back together so he could breathe comfortably again. His left eye, which was too damaged to salvage and causing ongoing discomfort, was also removed. Thankfully, Bambi has some vision in his right eye and navigates his world beautifully.
Weāll be monitoring Bambi for a couple more months before he officially becoming available for adoption, but he is currently looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home where he can continue his recovery in a calm, loving environment.
Despite everything he has endured, Bambi is incredibly sweet and gentle. He loves attention, treats, and enjoys being petted and doted on. Heās a resilient little soul with so much love to give, and heās ready to start the next chapter of his journey.

SOS FL Animal Rescue is a non-profit rescue for rabbits and guinea pigs. We are animal lovers who are experienced rabbit and guinea pig owners. We both fostered small animals with other rescues for years before meeting each other and deciding to start our own rescue so that more rabbits and guinea pigs could be saved. We take in all rabbits and guinea pigs, including unwanted animals, seniors, and medical cases.
