My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you’re looking for a companion who is as elegant as a watercolor painting and as gentle as a soft breeze, meet Ophelia. At two years old, she has moved past the frantic energy of kittenhood and settled into a refined, "shy but social" grace that makes her a truly special addition to a peaceful home. Ophelia is a stunning Lynx Point adult, featuring delicate, misty tabby markings on her face and legs that contrast beautifully with her cream-colored coat. Her most striking feature, however, is her soulful eyes—they seem to hold a world of intelligence and a quiet request for connection. Ophelia isn't the type to demand the spotlight the moment you walk in. She is a thoughtful observer who takes her time to get to know you. But don't let her initial shyness fool you—she is deeply social. She simply believes that the best friendships are built on a foundation of trust and patience. Earning Ophelia's trust is a gift. There is nothing quite as moving as the moment she decides you are her "safe person" and begins to seek out your company. She doesn't just want a house; she wants a heart to call home.

Additional adoption info

Interested adopters can meet cats and kittens at our adoption center at 160 E El Camino Real inside of Petco in Sunnyvale, CA. Currently, meet-and-greets are primarily by appointment until we have our official opening later this summer and have regular hours. Meet-and-greets can also be scheduled at foster homes. During this time the potential adopter can ask questions and have a conversation with the volunteers showing the cats or kittens to learn more about the animals and their care.

After the meet-and-greet, an adopter can move forward with the process by completing a pre-adoption survey at bayareacats.org/adopt (this can also be completed prior to the meet-and-greet). An adoption counselor will meet with the adopter to go over the cat’s medical and treatment history, future vaccination due dates, and diet. The adoption counselor will also provide education on additional topics indicated by the adopter in the survey, such as the initial confinement period (“sanctuary room”), cat-to-cat introductions, safe-outdoor access, etc. The adoption is then processed via mobile checkout and all information is emailed to the adopter for a paperless experience unless otherwise requested. Most adoptions are completed same day!

More about this rescue

Our mission is to decrease the number of unfixed cats in the community. Bay Area Cats is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our organization provides resources and enables the community to do trap-neuter-return (TNR). We spend time training, educating, rescuing kittens, and assisting with TNR efforts. We help connect people to spay/neuter resources and support those with financial need.

In 2025 we officially opened an adoption program to help place friendly cats and kittens in forever homes!
