Their adoption process

Adoption donation required. This covers altering, 6 in 1 series vaccinations, rabies vaccination if over four months old, bordatella vaccination, deworming, heartworm testing (treatment if positive), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, grooming, full veterinary examination, and temperament evaluation.

All SOAR dogs go through a ten day quarantine period to insure they are healthy, before being put up for adoption. Though if the dog is an owner turn in and has been to a vet within the last ten days they go immediately up for adoption, with a further exam at the time of altering.
If for any reason the dog does not work out in your family we will take the dog back into our care at any time during the lifetime of the dog. (We require that the dog be returned to us, as per the contract).

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. Submit an application online and we will do vet and personal references and reach out to you asap.
  2. Interview
    1. After doing reference checks we will call you to answer any additional questions about the dog and see if it sounds like a match!
  3. Meet the Pet
    1. Arrange a meeting between all family and existing pets and the new dog.
This will most likely be done at your home for everyone's comfort.
  4. Sign Adoption Contract
    1. If it is a good match for everyone, we require an adoption contract and the adoption fee at that time.
  5. Take the Pet Home
    1. Set up a time for you to take home your new family member.
And we are always here to help with that transition and any future questions.
