Meet Choppa, the lively puppy who embodies joy and companionship. With boundless non-stop energy and a friendly demeanor, Choppa loves to play and cuddle, making him the perfect addition to any fun-loving family. He enjoys car rides, running, and toys. He`s a social butterfly, getting along famously with other dogs and children. Though he tends to chew and nip and can be a bit noisy and jumpy, his lovable nature shines through. He weighs 27 pounds and is still working on leash walking and house training. If you`d like to teach him some commands, you`ll need to use sign language because he can`t hear a thing. And he doesn`t care that he`s deaf. He still finds life exciting and joy in everything he does. Choppa`s bravery and playful spirit make him an ideal companion. Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

A second dog or puppy, adopted within 30 days of the first adoption receives a $20 discount.

Military Families - 50% of adoption fees waived for military personnel and veterans. (proof of eligibility required)

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.
CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
