My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Terracotta!

This juvenile bearded dragon is seeking a home to take over her care and give her a great life filled with lots of bugs, vegetables and a cozy place to live. Her ideal adopters will be knowledgeable about their care and what they require, like heating and lighting, appropriate tank set ups, proper nutritional diets and handling. This girl came from a home where none of her needs where met, which resulted in weeks of rehabilitation work due to her poor condition, and required close attention to make sure progress was successful.

This girl doesn't mind hanging out with her people, and will watch you go about your business as you do, but sure isn't afraid to let you know when she wants some more 1v1 time with "the look." She enjoys daily baths where she likes to gulp up her water and have a swim, and uses the bathroom. She is very good at her salad eating, and will chomp down veggies as soon as you offer them to her! She is a wonderful eater, and with the right home will continue to improve and grow into her much larger self.

*Although the BC SPCA opposes the keeping of exotic animals as pets because it is challenging, if not impossible, to provide them with everything they need to thrive, Terracotta found her way into the care of the BC SPCA and is now looking for an experienced home that can commit to supporting her special needs*

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
