My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾Meet Kai🐾

This beautiful gentleman is only 1 year old and has already found himself surrendered to a shelter and he doesn't quite understand what's going on. In a home one minute and then in a concrete cell the next is enough to confuse any pup!

Kai tries so hard to please people but can be on a bit of the wild side. He has a lot of that "Husky" mentality in him and will do great with some structure and someone who can work with him on some training. 🐕‍

Kai loves to give "hugs" and we enjoy every minute of it! He's kinda the perfect size at 40lbs. Not too big, but big enough to steal your heart ❤️🐾

Stop on by and meet Kai during our open hours, no appointments are necessary. 🏡

More about this shelter

We are a municipal shelter overseen by the counties animal control department. We serve all of Chilton County Alabama.

Being the only animal facility in Chilton County, we have alot of animals coming through our doors, with roughly 2,000 intakes a year. Our animals come to us through many channels: owner surrenders, strays, animal control and abandonment/cruelty cases.

Every animal that comes through our doors has story. Our staff works very hard to learn each and everyone of them in order to place every animal in their perfect home. Weather this means late night feedings, laying in the kennels with the dogs to help them feel safe, or just giving them the love and compassion they have never had before.

Our mission is to Connect people with animals and enrich lives. Educate the community. Prevent abuse, neglect, and animal homelessness.
